Sunday 26 June: We decided to have a quiet day, and take a break from travelling.
Frances was tossing up two options. One was to go to Morskie Oko which is apparently one of the most beautiful lakes in Eastern Europe. She researched the route which involves a 50 minute bus ride, either a 3 hour walk or 1 hour horse and carriage ride followed by the last km by foot. The other option was to visit the thermal mineral rich pools at Zakopane.
Frances decided to visit the pools in Zakopane. Whilst Morskie Oko was not too daunting and a nice adventure, the fact that swimming is now forbidden was the decider for her. Hopefully some wild swimming will happen soon.

On out last night in Zakopane we decided to eat at a local regional restaurant. It was quite small, and located in the basement of a log house - quite cosy in winter, but not so good in summer.
I ordered Ćevapi (skinless sausages) which came with a huge helping of very nice chips and a small cabbage salad.
I also ordered a glass of house red wine which was Bulgarian - it was so undrinkable I sent it back, and asked for another. The owner opened a new bottle and poured a glass - it was still barely drinkable, but I didn't have the heart to refuse it.
The hotel has been mainly peaceful, except for the wedding reception in the main building across the courtyard, last night that had incredibly loud music and a PA going until 3am this mourning. A slight challenge to our tolerance and understanding.
We leave Zakopane tomorrow for Trencin in Slovakia – travelling through the Tatra mountains by bus to Poprad before catching a train for the rest of the journey.
